Didactic spaces, meeting places for pupils and teachers, spaces to work individually or as a team; every activity requires a high degree of flexibility in terms of the learning environment and furniture. Ahrend likes to utilise expert knowledge about mixed learning environments when developing an appropriate environment for each educational institution.
Avans University of Applied Sciences, Open X
Avans is a knowledge institution with a strong position in Brabant. The university of applied sciences is also known for its atmosphere and quality. To give shape to Open X, the new vision on education, research and social cooperation, Rienks Architects made a new design and floor plan for an existing building. Ahrend took care of the interior with furniture, colour and visuals. 'It's always buzzing in OpenX.'
