Today, Ahrend has revealed the WELL COLLECTION, a versatile range of chairs that excel in comfort. A chair that fits right into an office, a waiting room or a coffee lounge. The secret of the chair? The organic shape of the plastic shell. And the relatively high backrest, that flexes when leaning back. This enables you to work both in a relaxed and an active position. Designer Kees de Boer started to design one visitors chair, but eventually ended up designing a whole series with eight different models. From a simple visitors chair to a completely upholstered boardroom chair – the WELL is widely deployable. With a wide choice of frames, colors and upholstery options, everyone can create a WELL according to their own taste and environment. The adjustability only applies to the looks, since the whole WELL COLLECTION is equally comfortable. This is exactly what Ahrend-designer Kees de Boer had in mind when he first designed the WELL. ‘For me, comfort is the starting point. That is why I first design the shape, before continuing with the lineation.’
Award-winning design on Design District
Even before its introduction, the WELL COLLECTION already received a GIO award for good industrial design in 2017. On Design District 2018 – the trade event for interior design – the WELL COLLECTION is shown to a broader audience for the first time. Design District was held from the 6th until the 8th of June in the Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam.
