Today, Royal Ahrend introduces the most modular and circular workplace concept of its history: Ahrend Balance. The introduction is Ahrend’s response to the increasing demand for customised work environments. Work environments that incorporate the latest ideas in Activity Based Working while simultaneously facilitating the desired identity, culture and dynamics of an organisation. The new workplace concept is characterised by its optimal balance between design, ergonomics and functionality. Thanks to the sophisticated modular design Ahrend Balance is available in more than one million configurations. Applied and patented innovations such as the quick fix mechanism and wireless charging also provide unique user friendliness. Balance is designed according to the latest circular principles, is fully recyclable and Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified™.
Designer Marck Haans: ‘The fundamental idea whilst designing Ahrend Balance was to develop a characteristic and modular workplace design that fits perfectly into the rich design history of Ahrend. This range has been designed down to the last detail; the seamless edges and striking options, such as the integrated desk lamp Kelvin by Flos, Linotop worktops and Kvadrat fabrics, make this product a unique design. The workplace concept has received the GIO Award (Dutch award for Good Industrial Design), but I’m especially proud to hear that Ahrend Balance is being seen as a worthy and sustainable successor of the classics Ahrend Mehes and Ahrend 500’.
Innovative and facility ease of use
The numerous applied innovations and the modular design ensure ease of use and flexibility. Due to the patented quick fix system, the connection of the tabletop to the frame, works easy, fast and without screwing. Also accessories can be clicked directly to the table top frame, so (dis)assembly can take place in a blink. Wireless charging and intelligent electrification ensure optimal connectivity. The clever and patented leg/frame-connection makes Ahrend Balance also extremely stable. This modular design responds to the needs of facility management and optimally supports the quick and easy adjustment of work environments.
Ahrend Balance is designed according to the latest circular principles, is fully recyclable and Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified™. Concept & Design Director Arnold Struik: ‘At Ahrend, sustainability is not something we only talk about, we really live it. The results are shown in our designs. Our ambition is to make products that last longer than just one life cycle. That is why we have chosen to build this product modular, so every single part can be reused in the future. The slim design and the stable construction ensure this workplace complies for years’. And in combination with the office chair Ahrend 2020, that is also Cradle to Cradle Certified™, a complete circular workplace concept can be created.
Workplace concepts that create energy
At Ahrend, the interests of the end-user come first. From that point of view, Ahrend creates environments where employees are being facilitated in doing their activities as well as possible. Examples of these environments are meeting- and discussion rooms and so-called ‘living rooms’. With the right choice of products, design and materials, the office can be a reflection of the identity of the organisation. Thereby the office design directly influences the branding, culture and dynamic of the organisation. At Ahrend, all these elements come together in its Office Lifestyle concept, a concept that contributes towards a positive experience for both employees and visitors. Ahrend Balance fits perfectly into this concept. The many configurations, pure lines and attractive design options, make Ahrend Balance a versatile product for small offices as well as large office plants.
