Proven design quality
A jury of 48 international experts assessed each of the entries from 60 countries. Only those designs that excelled in terms of quality and innovation received distinctions. The Qabin collection impressed the members of the jury with its considered design, carrying off the Red Dot Award Product Design 2022.
Qabin Chat as a haven for video calling in the office
Qabin Chat is the ideal place to get away from a noisy work environment to chat with a colleague or client, or to concentrate on a task. This compact box responds seamlessly to the growing demand for video calling in the office. The more spacious box provides all the required facilities, such as space for a complete workstation, screen, and whiteboard. Even if you’re spending a longer period in the Qabin, the internal climate remains pleasant both in terms of acoustics and temperature. The interior of the box is clad with removable, upholstered modular panels. These ensure that the space inside does not reverberate. In addition, the smart ventilation system ensures an optimum internal climate. It features a ventilation system that draws air from the underside of the box upwards via the walls, with the aid of fans in the ceiling. The incoming air is always cooler, providing a natural, cooling airflow, with a pleasant temperature and optimum oxygen levels as a result. The Qabin Chat is part of the Qabin Collection, which also includes the phone booth variant Qabin Call. The Qabin collection is available in 6 different colours.
Designer Marck Haans on the Qabin Chat: “I’m proud of the Qabin Collection because it brings together technology, modularity, function and design so beautifully. The clever structure is unique and, in terms of design, every horizontal line has a function. Lighting, fixed screens, desktops and accessories can be fitted between the different panels, creating uniformity in the design without unnecessary additions. The design is as serene as possible, and slots timelessly into its environment. That’s typical of Ahrend’s style. The slender design enables architects to play with the Qabin in their interior designs.”
About the Red Dot Award
With approximately 20,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the biggest design competitions in the world. A jury first convened to judge the best designs of the era in 1955. In the 1990s, Red Dot's CEO Prof. Dr. Peter Zec developed the award’s name and brand. Since then, the prestigious "Red Dot" distinction is a hallmark of outstanding design that is highly regarded internationally. In order to assess the great diversity of design products and projects, the Red Dot Design Award is divided into three disciplines – Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The winners are presented in the Red Dot yearbooks and museums and on the Red Dot website. Additional information can be found at www.red-dot.org
