The new accommodation of the sophisticated MERLIN Institute of Maastricht University is an open spaced work environment that meets the needs of a group of international medical researchers.
Maastricht University wanted to make the transition from a department that worked out of smaller enclosed office spaces to a single, large open workspace. This area should accommodate different styles of working while simultaneously allowing for the expected increase in the number of employees within the institute.
This open workspace is furnished according to the principles of Activity Based Working. The requirements of the employees were researched and translated to an interior design concept with conference areas, consultation area, concentrated working areas, meeting areas and recreational areas.
