The designer

Kees de Boer

Kees de Boer was born in 1969. After a course in automobile engineering at a technical secondary school from 1986 to 1990, he went on to study at the Academy for Industrial Design (now The Design Academy) in Eindhoven till 1996 where he chose the specialism Man & Work.

Basic model

Ahrend 370 has a wide range of chairs. In the basic version the seat shell is a varnished wooden shell (beech veneer).

  • Ahrend 370 with a chrome wire frame with seat heights 46 cm
  • Ahrend 370 with a chrome wire frame with the seat height 61 cm
  • Ahrend 370 with a chrome wire frame with the seat height 81 cm
  • Ahrend 370 on a column and five star base and adjustable height without armrests
  • Ahrend 370 on a column and five star base and adjustable height with armrests

Technical details

  • The seat shell is composed of nine layers of beech veneer moulded into shape. The combination of a slightly hollow shape of the seat and the light springy backrest makes it a comfortable chair.
  • A seat shell which slopes backwards on its base ensures comfortable seating, whether free standing or positioned at a table.
  • The seat is mounted blind: no visible attachment can be seen on the top surface
  • The four-leg chair with and without armrest is stackable (up to 7 chairs ) and has a stacking buffer.
  • The four-leg chair has self-aligning end caps with plastic glide pads and, as an option, can be supplied with felt glide pads (Pads are exchangeable)
  • The wire frame always has glides and, as an option, can be supplied with felt glide pads. (Pads are exchangeable)
