Revolt
Even in 1953, the Revolt was regarded as highly innovative, winning a permanent place in the business world and the Dutch living room. The Revolt chair comes to its own in every environment.
The chair was produced during many decades but was discontinued in the 1990’s. But in 2004, the Revolt was reintroduced. Since then, this remarkable chair has really stood the test of time. Ahrend has proved that some products just get better with time.
Generations have grown up with this no-nonsense chair, which stood in canteens, shops, airports, offices, libraries and countless waiting rooms. The Revolt continues to inspire contemporary designers.
Designer Friso Kramer
Minimalist design with maximum comfort
A minimalist and functional design, with the highest level of comfort. The seat and backrest of the Revolt are ergonomically shaped and move along with you, making sitting extra pleasant. The original 1953 design has been redesigned, but still fully fits within the design philosophy of Friso Kramer: a chair that is completely functional and serving, without fuss. A no-nonsense chair. A chair for everyone.

Iconic Dutch Design
The Revolt was designed by Friso Kramer in 1953, this marked the start of a revolution. The frame of pressed and curved sheet steel, the seat and back using new plastic bending technology and the innovative click system with which the frame and seat are attached to each other, make the design exceptional. With The U-shaped profiles where more resistant to pressure than the tube-frame chairs. Also you could save material, resulting in a cheaper and lighter chair. In terms of ergonomics, the design was based on the latest insights. The first real industrial mass product in the Netherlands was revolutionary and therefore deserves its name up in lights.
