Arcadis
One of the offices of Arcadis has moved within Arnhem to a multi-tenant building near the station. AIS Interiors designed various functional zones for the new floor: focused work, active collaboration and social interaction. In close and pleasant collaboration with AIS, Ahrend translated the designs into furniture: revitalised, refurbished and new. 'Nothing but praise for the Ahrend Qabins and the new interior.'
Sustainable engineering firm
As a sustainable consultancy firm, Arcadis provides design, engineering and consultancy services for the built and natural environment. It is therefore not surprising that circularity was a major point of attention during the move. The main assignment was to transform the new office floor in Arnhem into a contemporary and adaptable workspace with respect for its historical roots. For example, gallery-like corridors have been created with wooden slats to exhibit Arcadis' art collection. The Arcadis past is also reflected in the design. The lockers act as a photo wall and give extra atmosphere to the room.

Ahrend Qabin creates space
The design, inspired by the London and Melbourne offices, emphasises sustainability, use of upcycled materials and thoughtful functionalities. According to Ahrend account manager Martijn Gademan, not an easy puzzle: 'The old office had 50,000 m², the current 13,000 m². Nevertheless, AIS managed to deploy all functionalities.' This is also thanks to the Ahrend Qabins. "With these acoustic boxes, you create extra concentration or collaboration spaces with minimal space. Arcadis is making optimal use of this with Qabin Call, Chat and Meet.'
‘The Ahrend Qabins add a lot of working comfort’

Revitalise existing furniture
To make optimal use of the space, break and collaboration zones have been introduced and furnished with Ahrend Aero tables, Team tables, Balance folding tables and Engage benches. "For sustainability reasons, the existing 120 Ahrend Balance workstations and A2020 office chairs have been reused. Our Circular Hub has technically checked everything and revitalised it if necessary, and monitor arms have been added to the workstations. We reupholstered the acoustic screens and reused some of the existing furniture. All sockets and cabling have also been reused as much as possible. Everything to minimise waste'

In pleasant cooperation
This assignment was entirely dedicated to sustainable use of space, furniture and materials. According to Martijn Gademan, this has been successful thanks to optimal cooperation with design agency AIS and cabling specialist Comatters. 'And with those involved from Arcadis itself! This consultancy has been a good relationship for a long time and once again we have been able to show our added value with high-quality furniture and appropriate services. And the result? Take a look at the photos and be amazed by the peace and warmth in this versatile space.'
Arcadis about Ahrend
'We also enjoyed working with the people from Ahrend and the Circular Hub on other projects for our (international) offices. In this project, we needed more collaboration and consultation spaces in the open office space without disturbing others. The Ahrend Qabins add a lot of working comfort, it is really something different from a 'phone booth'. The acoustic quality is optimal for both the environment and the employees in the Qabin. The continuous ventilation is also highly appreciated, especially if you are in it a little longer.
In addition, the Qabins are visually appealing, not only beautiful in design, but they also divide the space in a natural way. I hear nothing but praise from my colleagues about the new interior and the Qabins, they are always occupied.'
