ZURI Zanzibar Beach Resort
Located on the idyllic island of Zanzibar, the ZURI Zanzibar Beach Resort is a newly designed hotel offering luxurious interiors and a connection with nature. This stunning resort spans approximately 32 acres on the north-western tip of the island, featuring one of the world’s most beautiful beaches and breathtaking sunsets. We provided bespoke interior furnishings, including fitted and freestanding furniture, exterior and interior light fittings, curtains, net curtains and monsoon blinds, ensuring a seamless blend of comfort and style.
A tribute to Africa
The ZURI Resort is situated 50 kilometres from Stone Town, the cultural heart and capital of the island, where European, Arab and African cultures historically converge. Architects Jestico + Whiles drew inspiration from the island's rich history, folklore and natural beauty, creating a unique space that combines African vibrancy with modern European design.

Resort features and unique experiences
The ZURI Zanzibar Beach Resort boasts 46 bungalows, 6 suites, 3 ocean-front luxury villas as well as 7 restaurants and bars. A grand staircase at the centre of the resort links the accommodation areas with the main buildings. The reception, located at the top, offers stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere with pool tables, books and suspended seats. As you explore the resort, you will encounter bespoke chandeliers, themed bars and handcrafted tables shaped like crocodiles. The beach bar, designed by Czech artist David Černý, is adorned with African treasures, adding to the resort's unique charm.
Local touch and pride in African projects
The bungalows are nestled within wild gardens filled with spices, featuring original paintings by local artists. Each bungalow is painted in subtle shades of turquoise, pink and orange, with bespoke furnishings and decors from international designers. We are proud to showcase another successful project on the African continent, which has taught us patience and perseverance, while honing our logistical capabilities.
Project management excellence
We applied our lessons learned from similar projects to deliver and install fitted and freestanding furniture, exterior and interior light fittings, curtains, net curtains, monsoon blinds and the unique Evening Breeze air-conditioning system. Logistics were meticulously planned to ensure timely delivery of all materials, including tools and equipment. We packed everything carefully, including spare parts, to avoid complications on site. Our robust project management and supplier coordination ensured smooth operations and high-quality results.
Innovative solutions
Understanding the challenging African climate, we paid great attention to selecting suitable materials. Many materials underwent rigorous testing to ensure they could withstand the humidity, salty water, wind and rain. We also developed a comprehensive maintenance system tailored to the unique conditions, including a manual explaining recommended cleaning products and maintenance intervals. Additionally, we created an application to track and manage the upkeep of furnishings, enhancing their longevity and performance.
Proud of our achievement
"We saved $500,000 thanks to global sourcing and vendor management," noted Julie Lišková, Project Coordinator. "The project logistics were very demanding, involving nearly a hundred sea freight containers of goods and processing 100 cubic metres of tropical wood. We delivered thousands of lights, hundreds of metres of drapes and many kilometres of cord. Our experience from the Maldives and strong supplier relationships were crucial to the project’s success, especially as standard tools are hard to obtain on Zanzibar.”
