By using the newest technologies, Ahrend is making working environments smarter, more personal and more efficient. A striking result of a this is the high-tech Ahrend Comfort Workstation, developed in collaboration with TNO knowledge institute. From March 15th onwards, the workstation is therefore patented, certified and GDPR-proof!
The Comfort Workstation is an high-tech integrated workplace that is fully customisable. Based on your personal preferences, the Workstation automatically adjusts the biodynamic lighting, temperature, height and cooling. Since the combination of these four elements is unique, the Comfort Workstation has received a patent in the Netherlands. In addition, the issued certificates EMC and ISO27001 confirm that the Workstation meets the highest requirements in the field of safety. Furthermore, the Comfort Workstation fully complies with the new privacy legislation according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and becomes enforceable on May 25th 2018.
On product level, the Workstation is an innovative and technical invention. But the innovation reaches further than just the development of a smart product: the Comfort Workstation is able to save energy costs while also contributing to the personal comfort and wellbeing of its user!
Personal comfort for everyone
For optimal productivity, the indoor temperature of the office should be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius / 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The perception of the indoor climate differs per individual: men and women and younger and older individuals each have a different perception of the perfect temperature. One general climate therefore leads to complaints by individual employees about comfort. Thanks to the integrated heating and ventilation component, the Comfort Workstation gives the user personal control over the climate. According to recently published scientific research, individuals that cannot influence the indoor climate are found to be 6,3 percent less productive and develop 1,5 times more ‘sick building’-complaints. These health complaints are caused by poor quality of the air in a building, which can lead to headache, dry eyes, fatigue and a sore throat.
Working sustainable and cost-efficient
Building owners can save energy and costs by enabling users to set up their Workstation according to their personal temperature preferences. A recently executed pilot with the Comfort Workstation confirms this: a sustainable building that was ‘BREEAM-NL In-Use’ certified, has saved over 10 percent on their energy consumption during half a year!
